View PDF – Attraversiamo/Crossing over

The concept of attraversianmo has to do with taking a step from going to one stafety net to another one. Like that there is a stafety boundary and the crossing path is the in between zone between both of those regions. Something that we do together as a group, first waiting for the light to turn green to then crossing over for then to finish at the other side of the road. It’s like you create this bond between the individuals that are waiting together. Some group connection is formed between people as you have the same goal, that is to cross over.
The series is taken on different crossing paths, one with two white lines to cross in between and another one with zebra lines. The crossing path symbolises some sort of untouchable zone, when the pedestrian is on this path, the traffic needs to stop for him or her.
The focus is on the legs only, this as a statement of verticality. The human being different from the apes by standing and walking straight up, a homo erectus.
The walking upright is what makes us human and so different from other animals as well. Focusing on those legs accentuate that verticality, reaching for higher feeling. The first steps we make as babies are so important, the parents when seeing those precious moments are absolutely delighted of seeing this and being a part of it experience. We often take for granted that we are able to walk straight and thus this series wants to let the viewer think about this concept.

As the poet said, ‘Only God can make a tree,’ probably because it’s so hard to figure out how to get the bark on. Woody Allen

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up towards the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.
